I spent the morning on campus at Bournemouth University to see what students knew about meningitis.

It seems that many students just don’t think that getting vaccinated is necessary and that they will never contract meningitis.

This is not the case. Meningitis can affect anyone of any age, with students being in the second most ‘at risk’ group of people.

Persuading young adults to get the free vaccination is proving to be a very frustrating task for charities and campaign groups.

Raising awareness and continuing to inform people about the dangers of meningitis, and just how easy it is to protect yourself, appears to be the only way to move forward.
